EMDR Psychotherapy in Essex & London

Experienced EMDR Psychotherapy

We offer expert EMDR therapy online and in person in South Benfleet/Rayleigh, Essex, and in the City of London. Our sessions are confidential, non-judgemental, and gentle, utilising the most up-to-date EMDR approaches to help with a wide range of problems, such as PTSD, anxiety, phobias, depression, interpersonal challenges, attachment issues, and more. We work with a range of health insurers.

What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful psychotherapy approach that has helped millions of people relieve many types of psychological stress. It is highly effective for trauma and PTSD, and also beneficial for anxiety, depression, and other emotional difficulties.

Research Supporting EMDR:

EMDR is backed by extensive research and is recognised as an effective form of treatment by numerous organisations, including the British Psychological Society (BPS), the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), and the World Health Organisation (WHO). Studies have shown that EMDR can produce significant and lasting improvements more rapidly than conventional therapy methods.

EMDR Therapy

Our Approach

We offer high-standard EMDR psychotherapy, which can be delivered both online and face-to-face. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) has been shown to be an effective treatment for various common mental health problems, particularly for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Widely used in the NHS, EMDR is backed by a substantial body of research supporting its efficacy and safety. This novel psychotherapy method helps individuals process and integrate traumatic memories, leading to significant improvements in their mental health and overall well-being.

Health Insurance: We work with Aviva, Bupa, Axa and Vitality

I suffered for decades with fears of loved ones leaving me, I pushed people away and never built solid relationships. EMDR sessions helped me file away those memories that caused me to have these fears. I have changed my life, my relationships are calmer and I can now experience joy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at chris@emdr-psychotherapy.co.uk if you cannot find an answer to your question.

The cost of a 55 minute online EMDR therapy session £80 and for face to face sessions in London / Essex is £90.

EMDR entails spending time processing memories, sometimes there are reasons to extend some individual sessions to 75 minutes, there is not extra charge for this.

EMDR Psychotherapy can help you with a wide range of issues including anxiety, phobias, depression, relationship problems, stress management, and more. EMDR research has shown great results for trauma and recently for recurrent depression. Our therapists will work with you to develop a treatment plan that meets your unique needs and goals.

The frequency of EMDR psychotherapy sessions will depend on your individual needs and goals. Some clients may benefit from weekly sessions, while others may benefit from being seen several times a week. There is a body of research that supports intensive EMDR by even doing several sessions in one day or even on back to back days.

Online EMDR has been shown from research to be effective and can be just as impactful as face to face sessions. We use specialist software to ensure EMDR is delivered effectively. In the NHS online EMDR is widely used and the decision for online versus face to face sessions should be based on preference. Some find attending a venue and being in person more helpful but some may find the accessibility of online EMDR helpful.

We are pleased to confirm that we are able to work with leading health insurance providers, including Bupa, AXA, Aviva, Vitality, Allianz, and WPA. Please note that some providers may cap the number of sessions available; this can, of course, be explored in detail prior to starting therapy to ensure it meets your needs.

EMDR helped me work through some tragic events that happened to me. I feel less anxious, my flashbacks have gone and I feel like the old me.
